Philip Gurecki, PA-C

Philip (Phil) Gurecki is a Certified Physician Assistant who joined Oyster Point Family Practice in August, 2016 and has proven himself to be a valued member of our team of Medical Providers.  A PA-C or Certified Physician Assistant practicing in a family practice is able to see and treat patients from as young as a newborn to the age of 100+ years old.  He can diagnose all of the same conditions and prescribe all necessary medications as a Medical Doctor; he simply must work under the supervision of a MD or DO.  Phil is experienced and knowledgeable as our PA and we are confident in his ability to care for and treat all of our patients.

Phil is a native son of Virginia, having been born and raised in our capital city, Richmond.  He attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where he graduated on the Dean's List with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology.  After graduation, he then attended Arcadia University in Glenside, Pennsylvania where he received his Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies, once again graduating on the Dean's List.

Phil chose to be a Physician Assistant as a result of growing up watching his Mom, a Registered Nurse, take care of her patients.  He believes he can "help people in a meaningful way, helping take care of his patients' primary health care needs while also empowering them to take better care of themselves and to make informed decisions regarding their own health."

Phil is passionate about his career as a Physician Assistant.  He enjoys both the complexity of family practice medicine and building patient-centered relationships that are essential in assisting him in providing exceptional preventative and acute medicine and management of chronic or continuing conditions for his patients.  In addition to gaining greater experience and increasing his knowledge base with every patient interaction, Phil prioritizes continuing his medical education through reading medical journals and literature in a consistent effort to remain informed about new medications and indications as well as new procedures and treatments suitable for use in the family practice setting; all in an effort to provide the best care and treatment options for each one of his patients.

Phil is married and he and his wife have two little girls that occupy most of his free time.  They are both very active and involved in their community church and Phil plays the acoustic guitar.  He is an advocate of physical fitness for both himself and his patients and is personally committed to maintaining his own fitness routine as an avid runner and weight lifter.  Additionally, with what little spare time he can find, Phil enjoys woodworking, yardwork, cooking and when possible, traveling to the mountains.

Phil is available for appointments Monday thru Friday.  He is accepting NEW patients at this time.  Please call us at (757) 873-2000 to schedule an appointment with PA Philip.
