Lab Services

Oyster Point Family Practice offers in-office lab drawing in cooperation with Quest Diagnostics.  Our lab technician is available to draw blood from 8:30AM - 12:45PM and from 2:00PM - 4:45PM. 


The lab operates on a walk-in basis, no appointments are required or available.  However, the physician has to order the lab tests.  We maintain your orders on file, so all you need to do is stop in to have the blood drawn. 


Quest Diagnostics usually provides the lab results on the next business day, except in cases where cultures need to be grown or more specialized testing is required.  Most insurance companies allow the testing to be performed by Quest Diagnostics, however if Quest does not participate with your insurance provider, we can still draw your blood and send it to the appropriate lab for no additional charge.


Quest Diagnostics also offers Saturday hours at their Oyster Point Patient Service Center (PSC) at 11848 Rock Landing Road, Suite 104.  Their hours are 8:00AM - 12:00PM on Saturdays. 


Some laboratory tests require a patient to fast before having blood drawn.  These tests are:

                Cholesterol Screenings

                Glucose Tolerance Testing


We recommend that these tests be done early in the morning, so that the patient can consume food as soon as possible after the blood is drawn.  While a patient is not allowed to eat before having these tests performed, they are encouraged to drink water as it makes it easier to have your blood drawn.
