Desiree Lilley, MSN, FNP-C is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who recently joined the Medical Team at Oyster Point Family Practice. Although Desiree has only recently joined our team, she has been a member of the OPFP family for a while. During her pursuit of her Master of Nursing (MSN) degree, she spent both of her longest required clinical rotations working with Dr. Robeson and learning directly from him. He was so pleased with her clinical skills, knowledge and commitment to excellence in patient-centered care that he asked her to join our team of healthcare providers after she completed her degree program. She accepted his invitation and a new branch of our OPFP family began to grow.
Desiree earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts in 2023. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona in 2012 and her RN from ECPI in Hampton, Virginia in 2008. As the daughter of an Active-Duty Member of the Air Force, Desiree was raised as a “military brat” along with her two sisters.
This special upbringing inspired Desiree to join the Air Force and serve her country during time of war. She served in the USAF for 8 years as a Surgical Tech until she obtained her Nursing Degree in 2008 after which time she continued to serve her last 6 years as a Registered Nurse (RN). Desiree was stationed at Andrews AFB on September 11, 2001 and was deployed to Balad, Iraq in 2003. She has administered life-saving, necessary and essential compassionate care to her fellow soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines in both military hospitals and combat zones. For this reason and others, Desiree has a special place in her heart for her fellow veterans and their families. She continues to care for veterans as many are her patients at OPFP.
Desiree knew she wanted to become an M.D. or an N.P. when she was just 19 years old and stationed at Andrews AFB serving as a Surgical Technician. While transporting one of her patients to surgery, her patient told her that God had given her a vision of Desiree in a white lab coat. It was then and there that she decided to become a physician or Nurse Practitioner. In 2023, she finally realized that goal.
Desiree believes in the Jean Watson theory of caring which is essentially about caring for your patients and establishing a working relationship and a level of trust between the provider and the patient. It also stresses the importance of treating the patient with care because it promotes health better than just a simple medical cure. Desiree also believes that a holistic approach to health care is central to the practice of caring in nursing. This is the method through which she provides exceptional care to all of her patients regardless of their age or health conditions.
Desiree has a pre-adolescent son and spends much of her free time watching him play sports and learning martial arts. She also enjoys boxing, traveling and reading in her remaining leisure time. Desiree is currently ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS! Please call our office at (757) 873-2000 to schedule an appointment with Desiree.
